Transparent Pricing for Your Home Study
Our Tennessee-approved home study includes everything you need to take the next step in your adoption journey—home visits, interviews, background checks, and a complete written report.
If your adoption home study is over a year old or needs updating due to a move or life change, we offer fast, affordable updates that meet all Tennessee requirements. We review your original study, update necessary documents, and make sure you're ready for the next step—quickly and with care.
After your child is placed in your home, we will conduct post-placement visits to assess your child’s adjustment and progress. Each visit includes a written report submitted to the court and is billed at $400 per visit.
While most Tennessee courts do not require the home study provider to attend the finalization hearing, if court attendance is requested, it is treated as a post-placement visit and billed at the standard post-placement visit.
If you pursue a domestic adoption and your child is born outside the state of Tennessee, your adoption must be processed through the U.S. Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC). Tennessee Adoption Home Study Services is experienced in working with ICPC and will prepare and submit your documents to help ensure a smooth and timely approval process. This fee is due when you are matched with an out-of-state birth parent.
Once your home study is complete, Tennessee Adoption Home Study Services will, at your request, provide copies of your home study and supporting documents to any child‑placing agency, court, or attorney—at no additional cost to you.

We want the payment process to be simple and stress-free. If you have questions about making a payment or need a copy of a receipt, please contact Brent@TNHomeStudy.com.
Families should plan for some out-of-pocket costs. These may include fingerprint background checks for adults, medical exams, well water inspections (if applicable), mailing fees, CPR/first aid certification, home safety items, pet vaccination records, and notary services. Some families may also need to complete training courses or cover mileage if travel is required. We are here to guide you through each step.
Tennessee Adoption Home Study Services does not charge a separate application fee, and there are no additional charges for mileage.
We are committed to keeping our fees as low and transparent as possible while providing high-quality, timely service. Our rates remain among the most affordable in the state.
This service includes a full Home Study for families adopting a child within Tennessee. For out-of-state adoptions, ICPC document preparation is also required and available as an additional service.
This service is for families who have already completed a Home Study and need an update to maintain its validity. Updates are required if your original Home Study is over a year old or if there have been significant changes in your household. For out-of-state placements, updated ICPC documents may also be needed.
After a child is placed in your home, follow-up visits are required to ensure the child is adjusting well. We will visit your home, provide support, and document progress as required before finalization.
Extra steps are required when adopting a child from another state, including legal and paperwork support through the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC).
